rice bags

This week's craft was brought about by a bit of nostalgia.
When I was a wee little girl, I would go to bed with a hot corn bag on my feet in Winter.
Or put a cold rice bag on my head in the Summer.
So I made me some special little baggies so that when I'm no longer living with my mommy I can still have the comforts of home.
I'm not one for tutorials so I'll just leave this link riiiiight HERE that really helped me along the way.
Just remember to leave a big enough hole to pour the rice in through or else you'll be doing it one grain at a time....
Then just warm those tootsies up on a cold night or cool that noggin down when you need to pretend to have a fever.

feyonce

Even though when he sees me with lipstick he smears it all over my face with his finger, I love him.
And here is a lil something something we made to educate the public.

travel budget

Alright, I think the world is ready for my travel budget.
But, honestly, I was the worst at keeping a budget.
I do know though, that we spent less than $1000 during our month stay over there.
I was pretty proud.
How did we stay under that budget you ask?
To be real, we didn't eat.
We were hardly ever hungry so we ate maybe. Maybe. two meals a day.
Also, there weren't many activities that tickled our fancy enough to fork out our entire wallets.
So, we stayed nicely under budget.
However, even though we didn't spend much, it was still hard to come home and realize that now I have to buy a car and pay for school and I am roughly $1000 poorer. More poor?
Which helps me transition nicely into the true topic of this post....
I read an article on Facebook recently about the unrealistic idea of traveling.
Society has made traveling a rite of passage of sorts.
All of these people talk/write about how they just up and quit their job so that they can go travel.
But, that's a bit unrealistic and I don't recommend quitting life to go travel.
While I worked my arse off and worked 60-70 hours a week for months,
my parents helped me through school.
Just like a lot of these people quitting their jobs to live their dreams....they have some sort of wealth or lucky circumstance to boost their hardwork.
But ya know, travel isn't everything.
It was great to get away and explore and see new things.
BUT real life is great too.
And it's still possible to explore and see new things.
There are SO many amazing things just in Utah that I still haven't seen yet.
So, I shall.
I'll save the thousand and pay for a tank of gas to go explore Zions.

the hamper

Cause if you're gonna have dirty clothes you might as well put em in something pretty.

materials needed:
a trip to your local D.I.
a color of paint that tickles your fancy
tape. preferably painters tape but i'm sure that cassette tape would work.....
a hairbrush paintbrush

Just tape up your newly acquired D.I. find up with a pattern that delights the soul and then paint away. Two coats is the way to go. After it's all dried and the tape is peeled off, feel free to throw as much dirty underwear in there as you'd like.

a lake full of bears

We headed up to Bear Lake for some pre-fourth-of-jury celebrations.
Gotta beat those crowds, ya know?
Instead of camping old school we stayed in a cabin like royalty.
And the week that ensued led to lots of laughs and plenty of bug bites.
We kayaked our way around the lake, spelunked through a cave, and played some games galore.
